What's new About TopCalculette Pro?

Version Pro 4.6 - build 427/428 (1/20/2004) :

Currencies:

- We advise to update TopCalculette Pro to this new build. This version fix a possible error on the following currencies rates for the users of the previous version 4.6 :
* Currencies prior to the Euro (FRF, DEM, ATS, BEF, ESP, FIM, ITL, IEP, LUF, NLG, PTE and GRD).
* XPF, XAF and KMF.

- Due to a problem on RubenSoft currencies server, the AED (Arabic Emirate Dirham) rate was incorrect. Now, this bug has been fixed.

- Currency and flag of Dominican Republic (DOP) have been added.

- The default currency rates have been updated on 1/20/2004.

- The conversion units of fuel consumption (miles / gallon and gallons / mile) have been corrected: UK and US gallon were inverted.

Fixed:

- You can again map Mac Keyboard Keys to the 12 TopCalculette Function Keys.

- You can enter again numbers lower than 0.01 (that was not possible in version 4.6!)

- In "Money" mode, although they were not very useful, the 1/x and radix keys work now.

 

Version Pro 4.6 (12/10/2003) :

Optimized for OSX Panther (compatible 8.6 to X)

New appearance:

- new body "Panther" aluminum

- new round or square "Panther" keys

- infos about the skin's maker

Ergonomics:

- A button has been added to switch instantaneously between the calculator-converter and the simple calculator. The format settings are saved for each mode.

- wheel mouse supported.

New on display:

- larger and more readable figures

- area showing the current choice of the numbers format.

- area showing the current choice of the unit of the trigonometric functions.

New converter keys presentation:

- More ergonomic and more readable

Calculator Keys:

- now, sound can be added to the keys on Mac OSX.

Vocal Synthesizer supported:

- Speak the pressed key

- Speak the calculation result

Number formats:

- new money format: the number entry is done without typing the decimal point. This functioning mode is used by a lot of ten keys calculators (electronic payment terminals for example). In this case the decimal point becomes "00".

- new 4 decimal places.

Converter:

- 20 new currencies have been added: Comores, Lybia, Botswana, Madagascar, Mauritius, Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Columbia, Peru, Venezuela, Trinity and Tobago, Brunei, Bahrain, Iran, Nepal, Oman, Quatar, Sri Lanka, Maldives.

- Now, the RubenSoft currencies server provides exchange rates for 86 countries by the internet.

- 30 new units have been added, notably electronic publishing, speedÉ

- The length units, volumes (cup), luminances units have been corrected.

- Now, the history of the currencies update is saved in order to enable the comeback to a currency rate used in the past.

- Currencies base: henceforth, any currency can be used as base, contrary to the previous versions which were restricted to the US Dollar and the Euro.

- Now the units conversion formulae include the following new operators: decimal log, natural log and radix.

Preferences:

- New: Now, the format with thousands separator can be chosen to copy or drag&drop.

- The historic of the currencies update can be openned from the Preferences.

- Can chose between the two Money modes: within or without the automatical decimal point.

Calculations:

- The trigonometric functions can be expressed as degrees, radians or grades.

Fixed bugs:

- The tape doesn't freeze anymore when resized.

- A problem which corrupts the conversion table at changing the currency base has been fixed.

- The About doesn't crash anymore in no Roman Script.

- The unit name of the keys doesn't be drawn with a black background.

Extras:

- On OSX the contents of the tape can now be exported in a TopNote.

- Help Tags

- The last currencies update date is displayed in the "Edit" Menu.

- Now, the tape contents saving saves also the Lines Counter.

- Now the Tax rates or Percent rates are edited without any ambiguity.

- The lists appearance is Panther customized.

- "TopOnline" has been added: this is a new secure direct payment mode.

 

Version Pro 4.5 (10/24/2003) :

- This version is compatible with OSX 10.3 (Panther)

TopCalculette Pro - Version 4.0 (08/23/2002)

- The 4.0 version is compatible with OSX 10.2 (Jaguar).

- The software is supplied as a multilingual package (English, Français, Deutsch, Español, Italiano, Nederlands).

- OS X : TopCalculette uses the available language among the selected languages from "Preferences/International".

- OS 8/9 : TopCalculette uses by default the keyboard language.

To force into the use of another language, open the TopCalculette preferences and deactivate all the unused languages.

- The 4.0 simple version wont be continued.

FIXED BUGS:

- The calculations' printing on the tape doesn't deactivate anymore.

- When the printed lines on the tape exceed the maximum, the error message displays only once.

SKINS:

- A jaguar skin and yellow colored display numbers has been added.

DOCK MENU:

- Now, the TopCalculette dock menu displays the last 16 results.

DISPLAY:

- Now, on MacOS X, the lists are displayed by using "Quartz rendering".

- The "About" displays the list of the people (unfortunately uncompleteÉ) who have taken part in the software development.

- The "Charcoal" Font is automatically installed if it is not available.

CONVERTER:

- A menu "No converter" has been added to hide all the TopCalculette conversion functions. The button (+) at the bottom of the display shows again the converter.

- When changing category, the previous currencies or units are memorised on their respective displays.

- Now, you can click on a display to activate the displayed unit or currency.

- Preferences, a new page for currencies update:

- new options have been added to update daily or weekly the currencies

- the last update is displayed

- Informations about European Union currencies have been added to the window "Modify currencies and units"

- The currencies list has been revised, the countries are ordered by economic and geographic areas, then, by alphabetical order. If you want to update your currencies list, (*)you must click "By Default" from the "Edit Units and Currencies" dialog.

(*) after having saved a copy of your own units.

- Now, the units and currencies document is saved into the "É/Document/RubenSoft/TopCalculette" folder. In order to reach this folder easily, a "Show in the Finder" button has been added in Preferences.

If there are a previous document "TopCalculette (units)" including your own units into the old TopCalculette Folder, move it to "É/Documents/RubenSoft/TopCalculette" folder.

ADDED CURRENCIES (13 new currencies):

- Yuan chineese, Corean Won, Indonesian Rupiah, Indian Roupia, Thai Baht, Algerian Dinar , Saudi Arabian Riyal, Jordan Dinar , Turkish Lira, Egyptian Pound, Guatemala Quetzal, Franc CFA, Comorean Franc.

- The most rates of those currencies are daily updatable from the RubenSoft currencies server.

- The parity of the currencies Franc CFA, Comorean Franc are fixed in relation to the Euro.

ADDED UNITS (56 new units):

- The following categories: volumes, weight, presure, power have been completed.

- The categories "Informatic memory" and "Fuel consumption" have been added.

UNITS AND CURRENCIES EDITING:

- The editing dialog has been reorganized. The converting formula has been made more explicit. The 1/x (inversion) operator has been added to the converting formulas.

- Over 10 new flags have been added.

UNITS IMPORTING:

- To do not overload the converting tables, a new importing function has been added to the "File" menu. This function allows to add new units tables to the current units list. The files format is the same as the TopCalculette units documents.

If you wish, send us your units tables, we will supply it on our website. (please, let us know if you want being mentioned as maker of this table).

MINIMIZATION:

- When TopCalculette is minimized, if the application which is before TopCalculette is quitted, the calculator window won't open (it remains minimized).

PREFERENCES:

- Now the keyboard command "Command-Q" et "Command-W" can be disabled on OSX.

- The choices for the location of the "TopCalculette (units)" document have been modified. A button "Show in Finder" has been added to recover easily this document.

Tax:

- The rates taxes can be modified without having to enter the rates again.

- Now main rates taxes can be applied by using only one tax key (click on the tax key, change its rate, then click again on the tax keyÉ).

TopNote:

- Now, under OSX, TopCalculette support TopNote: the text of the tape can be exported into a TopNote.

LOCALIZATIONS:

- The localizations have been revised, especially Dutch version.


TopCalculette Pro - Version 3.5.1 v2 (02/07/2002)

Revision v2 : this revision fix a possible bug with the ATI driver on Mac OS 9.1 and 9.2. When the monitor resolution is millions, the Mac can freeze when launching TopCalculette Pro.

- To be more readable the figures on the tape are aligned with the comma.

- Now TopCalculette window remains closed when the minimized window is moved.

- The Greek Currency has been moved to the European currencies group.

(To see this modifications you need to move to the trash the "TopCalculette (Units)" document. You will find it into the TopCalculette Folder or into the "Application Support" folder.)

- the Polish currency has been added.

- The ISO code of Mexican and Pacific Franc currencies have been updated.

- The currency rates have been updated (1/3/2002).

- The help document is now readable on OS X.


TopCalculette/TopCalculette Pro - Version 3.5 (12/17/2001)

This version runs on both Mac OS 9.2 and Mac OS X version 10.1.


1/New (only Pro version):

- converter with double or triple display. Click on the unit button to choose the active display. Click again to display the conversion on the tape.

During the calculation you can change the unit or the currency.

 

2/Improvements :

- Now it's possible to cumulate the successive calculations of taxes, pourcentages or margins regarding a same number.

- Iconized starting mode has been improved.

- The Mac keyboard key C is active in all the keyboard modes.

TopCalculette/TopCalculette Pro - Version 3.2 (10/16/2001)

TopCalculette/TopCalculette Pro - Version 3.1 (7/31/2001)

 

US translation:

All the translation errors have been fixed. Now the units, the currencies and the other French strings are in US language.

Special "Money" Rounding Mode: (Pro version only)

A MONEY mode has been added with the following specifications:

  • Although that 2 decimals are displayed, the internal registers preserve all the decimals to avoid rounding errors.
  • decimals (cents) are displayed smaller.

On display, a picture showes MONEY mode is running.

The MONEY Mode is activated:

  • by the user, selecting "Money" item from the "Edit" menu.
  • automaticaly after a currency convertion. The "C" key cancels the "Money" Rounding Mode, which returns to the previous selected mode.

Converter:

  • previous units updated and new ones added (116 units available now)
  • previous currencies updated and new ones added (49 currencies available now)
  • Update of the currencies symbols of the Euro area.
  • 31 new countries flags.
  • 50 currencies updated by internet (on 7/10/2001 - Pro version only).
  • When updating TopCalculette the units and currencies previously created by the user are saved.

Operations:

  • The error mode is cleared by entering a new number or by taping the C key.
  • Now you can allocate a customized Mac keyboard key to the converter by using the "Mac Keyboard Keys Settings" dialog.

Tape:

  • Now taxes and percents rates are printed on the tape.
  • A line feed is added to the tape after a result or an error have been printed.

Other:

  • You can choose the Work Folder where you save the document of currencies and units updates (Pro version only).
  • "British" and "German" factories keyboard settings have been added.
  • Cosmetic update of the small size bodies.
  • Some minor bugs have been fixed.
